Who we are:

The ‘Foundation Cancer’ is a non-profit national organisation founded in 1994 and  based on the merger of two luxembourgish cancer societies (League against cancer and Association against cancer) which joined forces after respectively 69 and 5 years of experience.

We are a staff of 11 employees and about 150 volunteers.

The ‘Foundation Cancer’ is mainly funded through donations and bequests and receives extremely limited subsidies from the government.

What we do:

The ‘Foundation Cancer’ has given itselfs 3 missions:

Information – Help – Research

INFORMATION

The ‘Foundation Cancer’ provides information to the general public: through its publications (Info Cancer, Den Insider, etc), its internet sites (www.cancer.lu and www.info-tabac.lu ), its conferences and its prevention campaigns.

But being well-informed is also important for people suffering from cancer. Therefore the ‘Foundation Cancer’ offers them good-quality medical and psycho-social information, whether it is by its specific brochures, its website or its conferences.

HELP OR BETTER PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT

The ‘Foundation Cancer’ does everything it can to support patients and their loved ones faced with psychological, social or practical problems.

In order to help them at this difficult time, the ‘Foundation Cancer’ proposes many services: psychological consultations, practical help, social information, financial aid, meeting groups, relaxation groups and sports groups. These services are free of charge and given by professionals (psychologists, nurses, etc.).

RESEARCH

In order to contribute to the improvement of therapies and to further scientific knowledge in this area, the ‘Foundation Cancer’ regularly supports cancer research.

RELAY FOR LIFE

Each year, the ‘Foundation Cancer’ organises the Relay for Life. This event bears witness to everyone’s solidarity with patients and helps to break the taboo about cancer.

The Association of European Cancer Leagues implements activities which receive financial support from the European Commission under an Operating Grant from the European Union's Health Programme (2014-2020).
