Who we are

The League against Cancer in Slovakia, registered in 1990, is the independent, voluntary, non-profit making charity, working at anational level.

Our aims/purpose/vision

To reduce cancer incidence and mortality through information, education, prevention, care in every stage of the disease, improvement of the quality of life, reduction of suffering, support to clinical and research institutions.

What we do

Regular education and prevention campaigns, promoting the European Code against Cancer, organising the European Week against Cancer, implementing the programme of the cancer education in secondary schools, granting funds to cancer hospitals, cancer research institutions, supporting psychosocial services, supporting establishment of the self help groups, informing about cancer patients rights, organising meetings and fora for cancer patients. Fundraising activities - Daffodil Day organised regularly every year, Terry Fox Runs, benefit concerts.

Our services

Distribution of leaflets and brochures, lectures for general public, help line and consulting service, reconditioning stays for cancer patients, "Home" for parents with child cancer patients offering free accommodation during treatment, vacation camps for child cancer patients. Establishment of the Cancer Help Centre with awide range of services for the patients, their relatives, friends, and general public in three towns of Slovakia: Bratislava, Kosice, Martin.
