Over the last decade, the pink ribbon lapel pin has become a powerful symbol to increase awareness about breast cancer.
Survivors, family members, care-givers and supporter of the cancer fight are now wearing it around the globe, especially during October, which has been declared 'Breast Cancer Awareness Month' in many countries.
Many other ribbons have appeared since then, each color associated with a specific type of cancer as outlined in this document.
However, ribbons are not the only symbols for cancer control. The Pearl of Wisdom is becoming the accepted symbol for cervical cancer control.
