NEWS:  The Open Forum of the European Partnership for Action Against Cancer took place 19-20 June 2012 at the Italian Ministry of Health in Rome, Italy.

The Open Forum focused on Health Promotion and Prevention and Information and Data.

The European Commission launched the European Partnership for Action Against Cancer 2011-2013, on 29 September 2009.

ECL is a key contributor to the European Commission process in the development of an EU Partnership for Action Against Cancer, participating in the first brainstorming workshop and in the recent meeting exploring the structure, actions and areas of the Partnership.  We are currently leading on Health Promotion and Prevention, one of several important technical work packages in the Partnership:

  • Health Promotion and Prevention (Work Package 5);
  • Screening and Early Diagnosis (Work Package 6)
  • Identification and dissemination of good practice in healthcare (Work Package 7);
  • Cancer research (Work Package 8);
  • Health information and data (Work Package 9)
  • National Cancer Plans (Work Package 10)

A main action by ECL in Prevention is the re-launch of the European Week Against Cancer (EWAC), taking place 25 to 31 May each year, and the wide communication of the European Code Against Cancer.

The Official EWAC Conference for 2012 took place at the Ministry of Health in Rome, from 31 May to 1 June.  More information is here.
