Made possible by MAC MEP Pavel Poc, this meeting was intended as a networking event to help to share up-to-date knowledge and to discuss the application of the hitherto assembled findings in establishing effective systems for colorectal cancer screening and early detection. Regardless of the recent advances in many European countries, there are still many rather persistent questions and problems that need to be addressed.

BRUSSELS Wednesday, 6 June 2012, European Parliament: Equity in Access - Promoting a Cervical Cancer Prevention Strategy for Europe
In support of the European Week Against Cancer, MEPs against Cancer (MAC) in conjunction with the European Institute of Women’s Health are holding a Roundtable on cervical cancer prevention. Hosted by MAC Vice President, Nessa Childers and MAC President Alojz Peterle, the Roundtable heard from Dr. Martin Seychell, Deputy Director General of DG Sanco, about EU action on cervical cancer. The discussion highlighted the need for better sharing of best practice across Europe to reduce existing health inequalities in this cancer.Cervical cancer is highly preventable through a twin effort of population-based screening programmes and the HPV vaccines.

In the spirit of the European Week Against Cancer, we organised flashmob events on in major European cities, to encourage youth involvement in the dissemination of the European Code against Cancer (www.cancercode.eu).
BRUSSELS: On Wednesday May 23, a flashmob was held at 5pm, Carrefour de l'Europe (between Gare Centrale and Hotel Meridien) (Video coming soon).
ROME: On Saturday May 26, a Flashmob took place in front of the Spanish Steps. (Video on LILT's Facebook.)
SPAIN: At two locations on Saturday May 26.
