The MEPs Against Cancer (MAC) meeting on "Alcohol and Cancer: Research Evidence and Policy Implications" took place on 7 December with an unexpectedly high number of participants, including key MEPs and representatives of cancer leagues, health and cancer NGOs and industry, with standing-room only.
The meeting highlighted the latest research from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) on an evaluation of alcoholic beverages and the risks to cancer. Policy implications for both national and European level advocacy work and actions were considered with examples from the Danish Cancer Society and Eurocare.
