Know before you Go: Transposition Deadline for the Cross-Border Healthcare Directive Reached

 The 25th of October was the transposition deadline for the cross-border healthcare Directive.  By now all Member States should have put the Directive into national legislation.  To mark the occasion the Commission issued a press release which you can read in the link below. They have also released a short video for the occasion to inform patients about their rights, and to advise them on things they should consider before going abroad for treatment:

 At this link you can also find a Q&A and a leaflet produced to inform patients about the Directive and their rights.  This will be available in all EU languages, and printed copies are available from the Commission.

 The Commission now has the job of monitoring the way that Member States have transposed the Directive and will be working through all the transposing legislation.  In the meantime they would also like to hear from you about any experiences with cross-border healthcare, or information about transposition in your country, which you can send to:
