(The European Partnership Action Against Cancer has now concluded. EU has in place a new Joint Action in Comprehensive Cancer Control for 2014-2017.)
EUROPEAN WEEK AGAINST CANCER 2012: The Official Conference for European Week Against Cancer took place on 31 May to 1 June, in Rome, hosted by the Italian Ministry of Health, organised by ECL and the Italian Cancer League.
The themes for the European Week Conference was Tobacco Control and Screening.
EUROPEAN PARTNERSHIP FOR ACTION AGAINST CANCER (EPAAC): The 2012 Open Forum of EPAAC took place 19-20 June, in Rome, at the Italian Ministry of Health. The themes for this Open Forum was Health Promotion and Prevention (led by ECL), and Cancer Information. See the programme for the Open Forum here.

EPAAC meetings of September 29-30 2011, Ljubljana, Slovenia
Main partners of the European Partnership for Action Against Cancer (European Commission, Work Package Leaders, Member State Representatives, invited guests) met in Ljubljana at a meeting hosted by the EPAAC Coordinators, the Slovenian Institute of Public Health on 29-30 September 2011.
The Steering Committee meeting took place on 30 September and had the following agenda items:

Main Areas of Work for the Cancer Partnership
The Cancer Partnership actions will be under four pillars1. Prevention (Health promotion and early detection); 2. Identification and promotion of good practice in cancer-related healthcare; 3. Priorities for cancer research; and 4. Health information, collection and analysis of comparable data.
A main action of the Prevention and Health Promotion Work Package will be the re-launch of the European Week Against Cancer, the first of which is planned to take place 9-13 May 2011 on a prevention theme to be decided by a Prevention Steering Committee.
