Madina is a Biological Sciences graduate and a second-year medical student at Nazarbayev University. She is currently working on a project looking at triple negative breast cancer among Kazakh women by identifying the frequency of this subtype using immunohistochemistry and staining. She is also organising a TEDx event and working on a retrospective study of breast cancer frequency in Astana. As an ECL Youth Ambassador, she aims to raise awareness about health and wellness preventative measures in Kazakhstan. Madina says “given the well‐documented relationship between lifestyle, cancer burden and healthcare costs, it makes economic and medical sense to instill healthy living into people from a young age”.
