Yakup is a medical student at Marmara University, graduating in 2023. He has a keen interest in public health, human rights and sustainable development. Yakup contributed to researches on hepatocellular carcinoma and breast cancer cell lines and attends and helps to organise national and international congresses on cancer issues. Yakup believes that “The best treatment is prevention & maintenance of existing well-being status is as vital as the modern treatment modalities.” He supports that molecular studies on cancer, public awareness activities and early diagnosis are that vital as treatment and rehabilitation methods.
Yakup also worked voluntarily with vulnerable groups in different local NGOs and platforms, operating in the fields of education, health, patient rights. Yakup is part of the Istanbul City Council-NGO through which he advocates for better public health in the city, and he lives by the words: ‘touch other one’s lives’.
