Yakup is a third-year medical student at Marmara University, graduating in 2023. He has a keen interest in public health, human rights and sustainable development. Yakup contributed to research on hepatocellular carcinoma and breast cancer cell lines and regularly attends and help organising national and international congresses on cancer issues. Yakup believes that molecular aspects are of crucial importance in epidemiology and that prevention and early detection are vital in reducing cancer prevalence.
He has also volunteered in projects aimed at supporting cancer patients, the elderly and people affected by Alzheimer. Yakup is part of the ‘Cancer and Patients’ Rights Platform’ through which he advocates for better patient-centered healthcare and lives by the words ‘touch other people’s lives’.
